Fold fitted sheets correctly
What's the Sheet?
Fitted sheets often feel a bit rough after drying because the fibers contain little residual moisture. However, if your sheet sits in the closet for a while, the fibers rejuvenate and absorb some moisture, making the sheet softer and more comfortable against the skin. But how do you fold a fitted sheet?
It doesn’t have to take longer than 30 seconds and end in chaos. The important thing is to know how to fold it properly so that the fine piece of fabric can be stored neatly and smoothly in the closet.
Folding fitted sheets correctly
1. In the first step, lay the fitted sheet flat with the underside facing up on a flat surface (e.g., a table).
2. Choose one of the four corners and reach underneath the elastic with your hand.
3. Now, flip the corner over.
4. The flipped corner is then tucked into the opposite side. Make sure to pair long sides with long sides and short sides with short sides.
5. Now, tuck the other side in using the same principle.
6. In the next step, hold the two tucked corners in each hand.
7. Before folding, shake out the sheet.
8. After shaking, the fitted sheet can be folded easily.
Avoiding mistakes when folding fitted sheets
Anyone who wants to fold a fitted sheet should avoid typical mistakes in advance. Due to the elastic band, it’s not easy to lay the fabric flat in front of you. The classic method used for folding a sweater is not possible with a fitted sheet. Attempting to fold the sheet freehand often leads to problems. With lengths of up to 220 cm, your arms usually aren't long enough to stretch the fabric. It’s better to lay the textile on a surface as described and then fold it.
Space-saving storage of bed linens in the closet
With a simple yet clever trick, you can also fold and store the rest of your bed linens space-savingly in the closet. This folding and organizing method is especially ideal and clear for bedding sets. First, fold the duvet cover and a pillowcase neatly. After folding and organizing, tuck the bedding bundle into the second pillowcase. If the pillowcase is too small, the bedding set can also be wrapped in it. And just like that, the folding is complete, and the fitted sheet disappears into the closet!
Life Hack: Roll bed linens instead of folding fitted sheets
Fitted sheets and the like don’t always have to be folded! It’s also possible to roll the fabric. This method is often easier, and it still takes up little space in the closet. However, this technique may not be entirely wrinkle-free. Nonetheless, it is well-suited for fitted sheets, as the elastic band stretches the material over the mattress. To roll it up, simply fold the sheet in half lengthwise. This works well on the bed or a large table. Then roll the fabric from the bottom up, and you’re done!
Do you already know our sheet hanger, Loop?
Freshly washed laundry has an enticing scent, especially when it dries on the line. Jersey and mako satin fabrics can only tolerate the dryer to a limited extent, so air drying is more gentle and environmentally friendly. Our products are Öko-Tex certified and made in an environmentally friendly way. The dryer consumes a lot of electricity and shortens the lifespan of high-quality sheets. Therefore, we recommend drying fitted sheets on the line or using our sheet hanger, Loop.
